Paddle to Read: a tribute to Madiba

Publication2Keep the 5th of December 2015 open for a special commemorative Oxford Paddle to Read for Madiba Dragon Boat Race at the V&A Waterfront Marina, 9am-12pm. This year’s event will see educational publisher Oxford University Press Southern Africa and shareholder partner, The Mandela Rhodes Foundation, paddle for reading to celebrate and pay tribute to Madiba’s legacy and dedication to education.

This fun-filled event will commence with a wreath-laying at the foot of Madiba’s statue at Nobel Square, and includes of a number of races between Oxford University Press Southern Africa, The Mandela Rhodes Foundation, two competing banks as well as an energetic youth exhibition race. The event is open to the public and free to attend.

All funds generated from the race will go to Wordworks, a non-profit organisation supporting early language and literacy learning among children from historically disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
