Aweh! isiXhosa and isiZulu posters

by | Feb 2, 2022 | Schools News, Resources

The Aweh! graded reading scheme is available in phonics versions for isiXhosa and isiZulu.  Oxford has developed posters to assist teachers in teaching phonics. These phonics charts list the phonic sounds with an image that represents a word starting with that sound, thus assisting learners to identify the phonic.  The poster also lists more examples of words formed using these phonics.

Aweh! has developed vocabulary lists of curriculum-based content and instructional words that are South African-based and match the CAPS curriculum.  The lists for isiXhosa and isiZulu include the most frequently used or important words learners will encounter in a Foundation Phase classroom.  The word lists are also based on the South African child’s environment.
