About the Author

De Wet Hugo

De Wet Hugo is a primary school teacher who has been working with British International Schools in Asia for almost two decades – first in Saudi Arabia and currently in China.

He originally comes from a Boland wine farm, but nowadays, he calls Kleinmond his South African home in the Western Cape. His writing includes children’s series such as Grilgrypers, Kies-jou-avontuur en Kinkels en keuses. He has also contributed to several volumes, and some of his short stories, rhymes, and drama texts have been published in school publications. De Wet calls writing his professional hobby, and travelling and movies are his favourite pastimes.

Kobus sien ’n man in ’n dinosouruskostuum en dink dis ’n regte monster! Hy word bang en hardloop weg. Toe oom Ben aan hom verduidelik dat dit maar net ’n kostuum was, lag hulle almal lekker saam!

Kobus’s mother shares a big surprise with him. He will fly alone on the big plane to visit Uncle Ben in America. Uncle Ben takes him on a trip to the zoo. Kobus sees a man in a dinosaur costume and thinks it’s a real monster! He gets scared and runs away. When Uncle Ben explained to him that it was just a costume, they all laughed together!
