OUP enabled me to pursue my dream through their bursary scheme.
I joined the OUP HR Africa team in 2023 as an HR Intern and was subsequently offered a second-year internship focusing on Learning & Development, building on the foundation set the previous year. In 2024, after applying internally, I was appointed as an HR Administrator for the UK & EMEA regions.

In the same week I graduated, I secured a job at OUP. Before joining OUP, I aspired to pursue a second qualification to build the career I had always dreamed of. However, coming from a disadvantaged background, this dream had to be put on hold. Thanks to OUP’s bursary scheme, my path to success was reignited. My decision to continue my career at OUP was influenced by the realisation of the impact of my work and the role we play in advancing education across the African continent.

As a member of the HR team, we champion many initiatives. One initiative particularly close to my heart is promoting wellness in Africa. From conceptualizing data-driven themes to coordinating and planning the event, and finally coming together to enjoy it, the experience is always rewarding.
